An original photo of something beautiful...
This photo was taken in Luganville, Vanuatu, and is of a secluded place called the 'Blue Hole.' This spectacular lagoon of 10m deep clear water consists of beautiful fish and provided a tranquil place to swim freely and to swing off tree branches. The tree roots, covered in moss, and plants were vibrant green colours, with bright red and purple flowers scattered around the hole.
A Great Piece of Architecture...
The Atomium, designed by Andre Waterkeyn, was built for the 1958 World Fair and was renovated between 2004-2006 and is one of the most innovative buildings in Europe. There are nine steel spheres with tubes connecting each, enclosing large escalators. I chose this piece of architecture as it is unique and innovative, and is one of Brussels most popular tourist attractions. The inside of the spheres provide the public with permanent and temporary exhibitions, restaurants and spectacular views of Brussels. Also, at night, the nine spheres are lit up with 2970 lights to offer a special show.
Something I have created...For my Major Design Project for Design and Technology, I helped two of my friends work through and design a completely sustainable, unique and affordable house which they are hoping to build in the near future. This house has a glass and box structure with a separated pod area for the master bedroom area. The house includes double glazed glass walls, polystyrene foam with gyprock, a 4Kw solar power system, a hot water system, water tanks, polished concrete floors and has a Balinese theme to allow the house to feel even more environmentally friendly. Another aim was to make the house be extremely affordable by only costing between $200 000 - $250 000, an aim in which made the task reliable on the size of the house, and the resources and materials used.
